Shipping Information and Requirements


 

Shipping Information for Designs by Bree Inc. fine iron lighting fixtures.

Some of our lighting pieces are very large and so must be shipped by truck freight.  Truck freight shipping operates under different timing, scheduling and delivery rules than ordinary parcel shipping.

PLEASE READ ALL OF THE REQUIREMENTS AND NOTICES BELOW.  FREIGHT SHIPPING IS NOT A FAMILIAR SHIPPING PROCESS FOR MOST RESIDENTIAL CUSTOMERS.

PLEASE NOTE:  Signature will be required at delivery.

If the carrier is unable to complete delivery to the customer because the customer is not available, the customer will then be responsible for any storage fees or freight charges incurred for shipping items back to Designs by Bree inc.  See our Return Policies for full details.

 

SHIPPING AREA

Designs by Bree inc. ships to the contiguous 48 USA states.  For customers wishing to ship orders to US Territories, APO or FPO addresses via Parcel Post, please call Designs by Bree Inc. at 251-344-1008. 

 

SHIPPING METHODS

Designs by Bree Inc. wrought iron lighting pieces are carefully packed and shipped via Fed Ex Ground or Truck Freight.  Our shipping charges cover processing your order, handling and packing the products you purchase, and ground or freight charges for delivering them to you.

What you can expect for Ground shipments:  Deliveries require a signature upon delivery.  If delivery without a signature is desired, it is the responsibility of the customer to contact the carrier and make alternative arrangements. Failure to provide a signature or make other arrangements may result in the item(s) being returned to us.  Additional shipping charges for returned shipments or for reshipping will be incurred by the customer.

What you can expect for Truck Freight:  Large items, such as large chandeliers, may ship via truck freight.  Items shipped via truck freight are delivered to curbside or driveway only (this is the freight industry standard - you may can arrange a different arrangement if you contact the carrier directly). Most carriers will contact you to set up a delivery time, usually a 2-4 hour appointment window during business hours. As such, it is the customer's responsibility to provide an accurate contact phone number for the delivery address.  Also, although most carriers will initiate contact for scheduling delivery, it is the customers responsibility to know when the package will be delivered and to be able to accept it.

Due to freight carrier policies - inside deliveries are NOT included and may incur an additional fee (depending upon the freight carrier).  Please contact the carrier if you require special assistance with a Truck Freight delivery, or make arrangements with a private contractor or installer to help you. 

DELIVERY INSPECTION AND DAMAGED PRODUCTS

At the time of delivery, the driver will require that you inspect the condition of the shipment and sign the delivery receipt. Be sure to note on the receipt any and all visible damage to the packaging of your fixture(s).  According to freight industry standards, noting the condition of the delivery is the responsibility of the customer - not the driver.

At delivery, PRIOR to signing off, inspect the packaging for any signs of damage.  if there is any obvious damage to the packaging that appears to have possibly damaged the lighting fixture inside, follow these steps:

1.     NOTE damage in detail on the sign-off sheet

2.     REJECT the shipment

3.     NOTIFY Designs by Bree inc. IMMEDIATELY at 251-344-1008. 

If there is no obvious damage to the package(s), please sign "subject to inspection" and inspect IMMEDIATELY.   Please notify Designs by Bree Inc. AND the freight carrier IMMEDIATELY if there is any freight damage discovered to the fixture inside the package.   Save all damaged fixtures, packaging material, and take photos of the packaging and damaged fixtures.

NOTE:  Do not refuse delivery for products that are not damaged. This will result in extra costs to you (see Signature Required section at the top of the page).  Refusing delivery should only happen If at the time of delivery there is visible damage to the packaging or the product itself.

Customers are responsible for all costs incurred by a refused delivery for product not damaged.

DELIVERY TIMETABLE

Delivery time will vary.  Because our fine iron lighting products are hand-finished, and because truck freight shipping pickup schedules are more volatile and less predictable than parcel freight, completion and delivery time of order typically ranges between 4 to 8 weeks.  If your purchase or project is time sensitive, it is strongly suggested that you contact Designs by Bree Inc. at 251-344-1008 within 1 full business day of placing your order. 

Completion and shipping time frames for Custom and Consignment orders will be discussed and estimated at the time of the order.

Designs by Bree Inc. is not responsible for any costs associated with shipment delays.

 

FIXTURE INSTALLATION

Please have your Designs by Bree Inc. fine lighting fixture installed by a licensed electrician.  Installation by anyone other than a licensed electrician may void the warranty.  Designs by Bree Inc. is not responsible for fixtures installed improperly, or installed by an unlicensed electrician.

Designs by Bree Inc. is not responsible for customer reimbursement of electrician and/or installation charges for any reason.

Designs by Bree Inc. recommends that any professional services required to install your product(s) either 1) help you receive the shipment from the freight delivery, or 2) not be scheduled until after your order has arrived and been inspected.  Designs by Bree is not responsible for any charges incurred due to scheduling issues or conflicts regarding professional services you hire and/or delivery time and/or condition of your order.

 

SHIPPING TO A DIFFERENT ADDRESS

To ship an item to an address other than your billing address, click on the "Ship To Different Address" link in the Order Cart and update the shipping address information.

If you need to change the Shipping Address after you've placed the order, contact Designs by Bree immediately.  If the order has not been shipped, we can change the shipping address for you.  If the order has been shipped, you will need to contact the carrier directly to make any address changes.

 

NO DELIVERIES TO P.O. BOXES

Because of the size and weight of most of our fine iron lighting fixtures, we cannot ship to P.O. Boxes.  If this poses a problem to you, please call the Designs by Bree office at 251-344-1008.

 

SALES TAX

Sales tax is charged for items shipped to the State of Alabama.
